FAQ

What is the warranty on my solar modules and my solar electric system?
It is hard to believe in 25-year warranties and 50-year life expectancies. Surely, if nothing else, the panels will degrade over that time, weakening the system’s output and gradually renewing my energy bills to their former heights. Right?
Not likely. The degradation of your solar panels is slow and depends on the type of panel. It is true that the panels will slowly weaken over time, but I’m talking about several years – a time frame the warranty will reflect. Most panels are warranted for sustained power output for 20 to 25 years. This means that up to 25 years should come and go before you notice any significant dip in panel production.

Do solar panels work in cloudy weather and at night?
Solar modules work in cloudy weather, but they produce less electricity. If the sky is slightly overcast, modules may produce roughly half as much energy as they would on a sunny day. Solar technology requires sunlight, so your local utility company will supply electricity at night.

What happens during extreme weather and wind?
Our modules are built to withstand 125-mph winds and 1” hail. Each panel is individually tested and complies with UL-standards.

What happens if the utility power goes out?
During any type of blackout, as required by (NEC) National Electric Code, the system will automatically shut down and restart once the utility power is restored. Unless you consider a battery back-up or Hybrid system to power your home during such occasion.

How much will I save by installing a solar electric system?
Savings vary depending on the size unit you select as well as your local utility rates and the sunlight intensity in your location. Our service representative will provide you a personalized free savings estimate .

What is Net Metering?
Net Metering is the regulatory ability to get credit for electricity you generate with solar energy and send backwards through your utility meter. Exact provisions vary with each state, but the effect is to allow you to generate excess power during the day, and use it at night, without needing batteries.

How long does it take to install a solar system?
It takes roughly 3 months to complete the entire solar system installation process. Project scope & size takes 1 -2 days. Design, Engineering, permitting, coordination with utility and HOA takes about 6 to 8 weeks. Installation takes 3 – 5 days. Inspections (internal, city or county and utility) and finally commissioning takes about 4 – 6 weeks.
